Two wireless paths, not a backup SSID
A cultural or event venue needs gigabit-class internet for a show window. Fiber into the building isn't on the table (landlord, timeline, or both). A single radio with a second network name isn't a failover plan.
We treat it as a short job. Site survey first, so rooftop placement is locked. Then we install before the window, keep both paths up through it, and take the gear down after. We do this kind of work in Greater Boston.
What we actually install
Two paths on two radios, with diverse backhaul:
Primary: Wave Pro point-to-point. Typical package is about 1 Gbps down and 1 Gbps up, with a static public IP.
Failover: Tarana ngFWA on a separate radio. Typical package is about 400 Mbps down and 100 Mbps up, with its own static IP.
If both paths share a radio, an antenna, or the same backhaul, you don't have a second path. You have one path with extra configuration. Backup internet for Boston offices is the longer version of that for permanent offices. Same rule here: the failover has to fail differently.
We're describing the package we quote. Not a measured night at a named venue, and not a made-up event price.
How the job runs
- Site survey. We walk the roof (or the exterior we can actually use), check line of sight, and lock mount points. If the shot isn't there, we say so.
- Install before the window. Radios go up, ethernet hits the closet or the production switch, static IPs are handed off. Short visit, not a construction project.
- Run the window. Primary carries the load. Failover is a real second circuit, not a spare SSID.
- Remove after. Gear comes down when the window closes. No leftover plant in the building.
Typical published Boston install for a rooftop job is 1-2 weeks from a signed order. An event window is tighter. The survey tells us whether the dates work.
What this isn't

It's not a permanent office circuit, though the radios are the same family we use for an office that needs service before fiber is ready.
