Rural Maine has options. Netafy is only two of the towns.
If fiber is already at the house and the product is good, take the fiber.
If it isn't, homes in western Maine usually look at leftover DSL, satellite, cellular home internet, or fixed wireless. We are a local WISP on the New Hampshire-Maine line. The ME residential hub currently lists Magalloway and Upton. We don't claim Portland, Bangor, or the rest of the state.
What's actually on the table
Fiber. Best when it's built. A lot of western Maine roads are still waiting. We're not going to invent another company's coverage or price.
Satellite. Starlink is the usual name. It works with a sky view, including camps we can't reach. We don't publish Starlink's current prices or speeds.
Cellular / 5G home internet. Works where the cell map is strong. Don't assume it is, especially off the main roads.
DSL. The ME hub still describes typical leftover DSL in this region as 5-25 Mbps.
Fixed wireless. A receiver on the house talking to a ground tower. Our towers on this border use the same network that covers northern New Hampshire. More on the tech: what fixed wireless internet is.

Neighboring write-ups: rural New Hampshire home internet and rural Vermont besides Starlink.
How to check
Send the Maine service address on the home request form. Same path the ME hub uses. Or call 877-412-9434. If your town isn't Magalloway or Upton, we're probably not the home ISP. We'll still take the lead and say so.
